Bamidele Akinyemi


Bamidele Akinyemi (nee Makinde) was born on the 15th August 1955 in Ogun State, where she underwent her early education. She later proceeded to the United Kingdom for her higher education where her passion for learning led her to simultaneously earn degrees in Primary Education and Social Psychology from the University of East London (UEL) and Open University respectively. She also earned a Master’s Degree in Adult Education in 1998 from the University of Lagos where she is currently in the final stages of completing her Doctoral degree in Education.

Upon her return to Nigeria in 1984 and after or her NYSC, Bamidele joined the Lagos State Public Service as an Education Officer and taught in several schools until she transferred to join the newly established Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC) in 1996. In that same year she received an award for the best senior staff and head of Department. At PSSDC she held various leadership positions and rose to the position of Director in 2009, leading the management consultancy directorate until her retirement in 2015.

Over the duration of her career Bamidele has received several awards, some of which were a fellowship from the Netherlands Fellowship for International Cooperation(NUFFIC) and is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute for Training and Development (NITAD) where as a past EXCO she served as the National Public Relations Officer. She is also a member of several other professional bodies such as Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), America Society for Training and Development (now ATD), British Institute of Management Consultants, national Employers Consultative Association (NECA), Network of Entrepreneurial Women (NEW) and Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM)

She has also delivered several papers at international conferences organized by the International Federation of Training and Development Organizations (IFTDO) in Malaysia and Canada
Her genuine passion for people development also led her to volunteer in various capacities with public service, non-governmental and faith based organizations.

Although retired but certainly not tired, Bamidele works as the Managing Consultant with Petros Consulting, where she continues to put her vast experience to good use working providing consultancy services to public and private sector organizations.
She is also a wife, mother and grandmother
